Black Indian Cardamom

Herb with large glabrous green leaves. Flowers yellowish white in spike. Distributed in central and eastern Nepal to about 1000-2000 m in moist places, cultivated. Helpful to skin disorders and helps in improving skin complexions. Has soothing, warming, comforting, penetrating, refreshing, uplifting, and stimulant properties.

The seeds contain the glycosides, petunidin 3,5-diglucoside and leucocyanidin-3-O-ß-D-glucopyranoside, and a new aurone glycoside, subulin.

Has antiulcer and antioxidant actions.It has stimulant, stomachic, alexipharmic and astringent properties, and are prescribed for the treatment of indigestion, vomiting, biliousness, abdominal pains and rectal diseases.
